With more and more rumours circulating about his future, we look at five potential candidates to take over if Arsene Wenger were to leave Arsenal.
Sampaoli is impressing in La Liga after taking over at Sevilla in the summer. He is known for his attacking football both at Sevilla and at his previous post with the Chilean national team. One problem Arsenal may have is that Sampaoli is constantly being linked with the Barcelona job, with the European giants questioning the future of Luis Enrique. If they could convince him to focus on the job at the Emirates and not one big audition for the Barcelona job, they could do far worse.
Everton are starting to see the rewards of Ronald Koeman’s work at Goodison Park. It was clear when he joined Everton from Southampton that this is a stepping stone towards a bigger job. His name is constantly thrown around with the Barcelona job, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be heading to the Camp Nou anytime soon. He’s known for blooding the youngsters and that could be pivotal if the Gunners are looking to move into a new era.
The name on a lot of Arsenal fans’ lips is the Atletico Madrid boss. He has done a fantastic job in La Liga but is almost completely opposite to Wenger, in terms of style of football. Simeone is known for move defensive, compact football, focusing on shutting down his opponent. A change of management may mean a change of style for the Gunners but you’d think they’ll want to stick to their principles. His success with Atletico Madrid in Europe and La Liga may be enough to tempt them…
